Mental health awareness month
It can be easy to stall when you don't know where to start. So on the eve of May 31st, the final evening of the final day of #mentalhealthawarenessmonth , I'll try to at least start.
I would be doing a disservice if I didn't post about this month, because yoga in at large has been the number one thing that has helped with my mental health journey & still continues to be day after day. Highs & lows. (when I say yoga, I mean all of poses, breathwork, mindfulness, meditation, lifestyle ethics, etc. from classical yoga)
So in short, thank you yoga, for getting me moving on the days I didn't want to get out of bed,
Thank you for helping me breathe when I felt like I couldn't,
Thank you for helping me respond not react (more than I did in the past),
Thanks for helping me stay present in the moments it was hardest,
Thanks for helping me stay open when I wanted to close off,
Thanks for helping me reflect though self-inquiry in the lens of yogic philosophy & psychology,
& perhaps most of all, thanks for helping me love myself & offer compassion, in the moments when the negative self-talk got too loud.
Xx CKD
